Alix (00:03.044)
Hello everybody. Thank you for listening. This is the call you shot podcast with your hosts, Alex Harris and drew more today's episode. We're to go over a couple of injuries that we had over the past couple of weeks as well as touch on some of the trades that just recently happened today and how we feel like it's going to kind of work out for the rest of season for some of these contenders and then get into a few of the matchups that we have for this last week and maybe talk about a couple of predictions that we have for this upcoming week.
So first major news that ended up coming out this morning was Stefan Diggs who ended up going down with a non-contact injury. I believe it was in the middle of the game on Sunday. It was ended up confirmed that ended up being an ACL. He ended up having torn ACL on that play and is now going to be out for the season for the Texans who are already battling without Nico Collins who's on IR. So now how do you feel like that's going to work for them, Drew? They've basically been a very good team, been a playoff contender or actually
looks like he'd been almost a Super Bowl contender coming out of the AFC, now with no losing basically two of their wide receivers, how you feel like that's gonna work out for them going forward.
Drew (01:05.167)
Well, mean, they already pretty much have the division locked up, especially with, you know, the Colts over there. Okay, relax. Yeah, I mean, that division's pretty much already locked up for them. So I'm not really concerned about about that per se. However, in terms of their playoff and Super Bowl potential Super Bowl aspirations. Yeah, that that kind of went down the drain real quick there, especially when you, you know, you
Alix (01:10.458)
Jaguars are gonna come back, bro, I'm telling you.
Alix (01:19.386)
Mm.
Alix (01:28.602)
Hmm.
Alix (01:32.794)
you
Drew (01:35.439)
You don't want take tanked out being your your primary receiver. Yeah. And I mean, you know, we love take that we love our small, quick twitchy receivers just as much as the next person. But at the same time, you know, there is value in having a Nico Collins or a Stefan Diggs where, you know, I always I always told you and Noah this Stefan Diggs, is always open. Every route that he is always open.
Alix (01:39.822)
Go to number one.
Alix (02:00.026)
and he's always a nuisance.
Drew (02:02.961)
Hey, you know, that's OK. That's OK, too. We need those people. But, you know, moral of the story is, I mean, I'm not breaking any news here. They're going to miss Nico Collins and Stefan Diggs. The attention that that both of those guys draw in order to allow a guy like Tankdale to be open is is really unmatched in terms of like secondary receivers benefiting from those kinds of
or that kind of success. And we saw that for Tankdale last year when before before Stefan Diggs got there. But, you know, ultimately, you know, why did I forget his name quarterback was his name, CJ Stroud. we go. Ultimately, CJ, CJ Stroud. Wow. We are start off great. CJ Stroud is him.
Alix (02:50.099)
CJ's trail?
Alix (02:58.628)
Hmm
Drew (03:00.705)
and he'll find a way to get it done at the end of the day. So I'm not really concerned in that sense, but major concern for playoff aspirations, like I said before.
Alix (03:11.322)
Like you said, they already kind of have the division wrapped up. They're only two games ahead of the Colts who basically will get a little too in a second made that quarterback change and now got Joe Flacco, you know what saying? Back in the starting job. So you don't know what's gonna happen with that situation. But we'll get more into that later. But yeah, like you said, I still have confidence in them that they're gonna finish winning this division when it comes to the playoffs though. I think they maybe can win a game, but when it comes to like facing the juggernauts, like the Bills, like the Chiefs, like the Ravens who have all basically made major moves.
Drew (03:24.013)
Bro.
Alix (03:41.152)
and basically acquiring receivers over these past couple of weeks. And now the Texans are going to be without their top two options. I don't believe Nikko Collins has had any setbacks when it came to his hamstring injury. So he should be coming off IR within the next couple of weeks. So it was definitely nice to have him back, but Tankdale is going to have to step up a lot. Dalton Schultz is going to have to step a lot. So it is kind of going to be difficult for the Jets going or for the Houston Texans going forward as they do face the Jets on Thursday. So we'll see how that goes, but.
I'm not too concerned when it comes to the Texans when it comes to winning the division or playoff aspirations as you said, but when it comes to, you know, making some noise, getting to basically the conference title or a Superbowl kind of pump the brakes on that one. So that was the major injury news. There was some small talk that C Mac a maybe, you know, the 49ers are on by, you know what saying? Maybe see Mac and get some work in and then has a potential. Hey, hey, hey, hey, no.
Drew (04:31.301)
Dude, C-Max out for the year, bro.
Alix (04:35.918)
So just want to say see Mac I'm still praying for you, you know, come back, you know, my fantasy team, we could really use you over here. I'm just saying anyway, moving on, please come back. Moving on. We did have a major trade that ended up happening. A lot of teams within the AFC that we talked about the jets getting Devante Adams hasn't really worked out too much. the chiefs acquiring Deandre Hopkins.
Drew (04:42.187)
Please, please.
Alix (04:55.61)
as well as the bills acquiring Amari Cooper. Those are all trades that we kind of touched on a little bit in last episode. But most recently in the AFC, we had Deontay Johnson, who was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the Baltimore Ravens, basically for a pick swap. think it was the Deontay Johnson in a six round pick. And then the Panthers ended up getting a fifth round pick, which is weird because that was basically their splash move, the off season. were trying to get Bryce Young some
help and they, you know, drafted Xavier LeGette and they brought in Deontay Johnson and all that kind of stuff. They thought they'd give him some weapons and they ended up paying him, I think it was like three years, $72 million, something like that. So they kind of paid him like a wide receiver one. And it looks decent when Andy Dalton was starting, but hasn't looked too great with Bryce Youngson. He goes to the Ravens and basically is paired obviously with Lamar, Zay Flowers, know, Mark Andrews, Derek Henry and all of them. So it kind of,
has the Ravens kind of stepping up when it comes to making some trade moves as well, when it came to all these different other AFC teams who were trying to make a noise and the Ravens were kind of sitting pet. It gives them a differently, a great route runner, great, probably I would say he be the number one option over Zay Flowers. We both like Zay Flowers, but I don't really see him as like the number one alpha wide receiver type. Like you said, kind of one of those switchy guys similar to Tankdale. But yeah, thoughts on that trade. Do you think it makes the Ravens the contenders? They've been probably one of the hottest teams over the past few weeks and
sitting as a major contender to possibly throw in the Chiefs in the playoffs.
Drew (06:24.753)
mean, kinda, but I mean, they're all, yeah, well, yeah, their offense was already, you know, elite as it was like, they didn't really. Yeah, exactly. The problem is when you're giving up 300 yards to James Winston, like that's the that's the problem. And so I think that they should have done more to address the defensive faults that they have as opposed to on the offensive end. And I mean, even even with that, too, we'll again, we'll get it.
Alix (06:28.591)
It's all right. It's not the problem.
Alix (06:40.794)
You
Drew (06:54.587)
deeper into it here in a sec, but as it stands right now in terms of EPA per play, the Ravens currently 26 right now. So like that's not going to be good going forward. And we saw what that what that looks like last year for the Eagles in terms of having a really good offense and being able to score with the best of them and having just the piss poor defense. They can't stop a nosebleed. So.
Alix (07:22.298)
Facts I agree with you. So those were the major injuries I believe actually we did have another one Depot Samuel was battling with I don't know if it was like the flu or ended up I don't know basically Hospital pneumonia he was in the hospital for like 48 hours as well as dental 49ers end up putting Brandon I you got IR this earlier this week
Drew (07:32.237)
He got like pneumonia or something.
Drew (07:42.257)
I he was done for the season, right? Was it an ACL?
Alix (07:45.412)
That's what they're saying. Yeah, I equals a yep suffering ACL and MCL tear. So 49ers gonna be without him. Debo Samuel has always been banged up. George Kittle has been phenomenal for them. And then they've kind of basically had the running backs fill in with Jordan Mason and he's been kind of banged up over the past couple weeks. And I think it was Garendo who's filled in ably is like the backup backup running back. And like we talked about our there's talks of Christian McCaffrey coming back. But as you kind of predicted for the 49ers this offseason,
Drew (07:50.449)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (08:14.042)
They are getting hit hard with that injury bug. And now they are sitting at four and four, ended up having that big win against the Cowboys and we'll touch on that in a little bit. But yeah, those are the major injuries. So I guess we can veer off into that now. So the NFC, just do a quick little rundown real quick for the Seahawks. We ended up losing to the Bills, got Molly walked by the Bills. So that was fun getting to see Josh Allen basically carve us up and James Cook run all over us.
That was kind of tough. were without DK back. Caffeth he was battling with his own injuries, so we're kind of undermanned. But I mean, it just goes to show that know Seattle Seahawks were one those, you know, mediocre teams. You know, we get some good wins in there, but when it comes to actual good teams, we kind of look helpless. So that was great. Any thoughts on that drew and yeah bills look good. Yeah.
Drew (09:05.051)
I mean, yeah, main thing is the Seahawks are who we thought they were. that is true. And it was doing really good until the Geno started remembering who he was.
Alix (09:10.746)
Hey, you have them as your division winner. I'm just saying
Alix (09:18.552)
decided to be who they thought they were. Yep, he's like, wait, I'm leading the league and passing? Wait, hold on, hold on. Throw some interceptions real quick.
Drew (09:25.137)
Yeah, let me let me correct that. Like so Gino Gino Gino doing Gino things this game granted to be fair, it was it was raining outside and so that didn't help him as well. He's more of like a sunny weather kind of guy, climate controlled like Jared Goff. But the main thing is, you know, 28 percentile EPA per play, that's not going to win you any any games. Basically, every time he ran a play, you expected negative points.
Alix (09:43.098)
Yep.
Drew (09:54.723)
is what that equates to negative zero point one. You get to play for him on this on this game. And then his average depth of target was in the first percentile. And for those that aren't mathematicians out there, that is not the first percentile. That's not what you want to be. Yeah, you want to be in the ninety-ninth percentile. He had an average depth target of three, which is basically the line of scrimmage and.
Alix (10:07.13)
Okay.
said it the wrong way.
Drew (10:23.217)
The one good thing that came out of this was he had a pretty decent completion percentage and he was, you know, three three points average of target three yards completion percentage over expected over expectations three point one. So, you know, basically they're having a lot of easy throws for him and he was able to do that. But his expected QBR off of those throws was twenty eight point eight. Not good.
Alix (10:28.154)
I'd hope so.
Alix (10:50.266)
Yeah.
Drew (10:51.215)
Basically, you can throw the ball into the dirt and you'd have a higher QBR rating than what he had.
Alix (10:57.21)
Yeah, so we've got a big one. Basically now we're in the inner division part of our schedule. We have the Rams this week, then we have the 49ers, then we have the Cardinals. And as of right now, it is basically a three-way tie in the NFC West with the Cardinals technically being at the top because they beat the 49ers early this season. And then obviously the 49ers beat us. So worse than that third. So it could honestly go either way in the NFC West. And then you have the Lions all of a sudden who got there.
full plethora of weapons back with Puka Nakua coming back and Cooper Cup coming back getting a big win against the Vikings. So they're only one game behind us, behind basically the whole NFC West. So we have no idea it's going to be a shootout or see how it ends up. So NFC West is definitely going to be entertaining. Any quick thoughts on the NFC West or if you have any surprises? The Cardinals are kind of really salvaging their season after a lot of people thought they had low expectations for them.
Drew (11:47.077)
Yeah, it was it was kind of a weird game, too. It was one of those where Kyler decided that he wanted to be like good Kyler and not like scramble around and panic and then just like chuck it into the stands Kyler. And, you know, that's what that's what Marvin Harrison can do for you as well. If you throw him the ball. OK, please. And like that, that is that is the Marvin Harrison that I expected to see the whole season, not just.
Alix (11:59.279)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (12:05.604)
Delverate it
Drew (12:16.273)
in this game and then, you know, a couple of deep shots in the past couple of games. And it was a little bit of, you know, squeaky wheel squeaky wheel gets the oil kind of thing or squeaky wheel gets the grease, so to speak, to where he was, you know, bitching and griping about how he's not getting any targets and what, you know, they're asking him, what do you have to do to get him more involved? And he was like, I don't know. I mean, like awkwardly laughing. And so I think it was.
Alix (12:20.282)
Thank
Alix (12:40.058)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (12:43.537)
a factor of that along with the fact that, you know, the dolphins there while their secondary is pretty good, all things considered, as long as you have Jalen Ramsey out there. overall, they're actually not really good on, the, in, in their, in coverage for them. pro football focus has them ranked 27th out of 32. That's not good. And so, okay.
Alix (13:10.05)
Hey, hey, last.
Drew (13:13.231)
And so other than Jalen Ramsey, like, you're not really doing all that much out there to, to lock people down. So that's all I'm saying.
Alix (13:19.926)
Mm-hmm. Yep. I still think that it's probably going to end up in my opinion. Actually, I don't know, especially with Brandon Iuke out now for the season. So now obviously, Deebo and George Kiddel, I you still have like all pro weapons, especially if CMAC comes back. So I still think it's going to be them or the Seahawks that end up winning the division. But I mean, shoot, I don't know.
The Rams, like I said, got that huge win against the Vikings. Pukunakua was playing, Cooper Cup was playing, and they looked like that elite offense that we predicted that they were going to be. We just didn't think that their defense was going to be all that good. So didn't necessarily have them as like a playoff contender. Kind of had them on the outside looking in. But I mean, that offense looks great. And then you have Kyron Williams, who's just that workhorse for them. I mean, like I said, anything can happen to NFC West. And then lastly, like I said, the 49ers ended up beating the Cowboys.
Basically we're destroying them and then the Cowboys made this, you know, late comeback like they did against the Ravens, like the Cowboys are prone to do. but I mean, ultimately the 49ers now are on by, so they have a chance for Debo to rest up. George Kittle was dealing with like a foot sprain and all that kind of stuff and then possibly have CMAC return for week 10. So we'll see when it comes to that. Yeah. One thing that we didn't touch on with Arizona game or touch on with the injuries we did, as you mentioned, have Tua Tungabaloa make his return and definitely put a spark in the offense who had looked
Drew (14:29.809)
And Jaron Johnson too.
Alix (14:40.984)
like literally like high school players out there prior to that. Unfortunately, weren't able to get that win as the Arizona Cardinals did beat them. But I mean, at least we can watch the Miami Dolphins again on TV without wanting to puke. So I mean, that's good. And we wish for the best when it comes to two. I still don't think the Dolphins are going to make any noise, though. Yeah. So any thoughts on that?
Drew (15:00.881)
Hmm.
Yeah, I mean, for the Dolphins, it's a little bit a little too little too late for them in terms of this season. If they were to win that game, you know, then it's like, OK, you know, we're we're one game out of five hundred and and we still have a chance. We're kind of in this thing. But now, you know, a couple of games out of five hundred and their schedule just gets more difficult from here on out. Like it. I'm not sure what.
Alix (15:12.1)
Thank you.
Alix (15:26.926)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (15:30.499)
what the outlook on the season is going to be for them, to be honest, because, you know, there were some good, good plays to pull from this. you know, finally Tyreek Hill looks like Tyreek Hill and, you know, exactly. And so you get everybody, everybody going, everybody doing their thing. Tua was able to mostly stay upright other than a few pressures. But yeah.
Alix (15:34.031)
Yeah.
Alix (15:44.238)
Right, A chain looking nice.
Drew (15:58.319)
It was more so again, like I was talking about, it was the defense that let them down this time. And so now here we are. And going forward, I don't think that they're really going to have a chance unless there's just like an all time collapse of the bills in this in this division.
Alix (16:08.122)
Yeah.
Alix (16:16.964)
Yep. Speaking of the AFC East, we had another matchup, an inter-division matchup with the Jets and the Patriots. And surprisingly, the Patriots ended up making a comeback and beating the New York Jets, again, who were now sitting at 0 and 2 since Aaron Rodgers acquired Devonte Adams. And like I said, like it doesn't, mean, Aaron Rodgers still has the capability to make some of those like beautiful throws every once in a while and all that stuff. It's just, I mean, they just.
have not been able to put it together and there it just does not look good. So now they're sitting at two and six and basically I would say the season would be pretty much over at this point. Sitting beneath the Patriots obviously because of the tiebreaker and I mean what do you do if you're a jet player fan coach whatever the case may be I mean I don't even really know what you do so thoughts on that and yeah any expectations for the Jets to salvage the season at all they play against the Texans I remind you.
this Thursday.
Drew (17:18.449)
Well, one thing's for sure is that Zach Wilson now currently has a higher win rate than Aaron Rodgers. Yep. So yeah, he has a he had a 35 % win rate compared to Aaron Rodgers, who now has a 33 % win rate since starting on the New York Jets. So, I mean, with that in mind, I'm sure this is exactly what the Jets fans had in mind for their season.
Alix (17:23.47)
bro. He has more wins. That's crazy.
Alix (17:36.25)
That's disgusting.
Drew (17:47.639)
getting Aaron Rodgers back, you know, after he was in the mountains and everything on off of his ayahuasca journey and all that. You know, he actually had a pretty decent game. I'll give him that. Like he played pretty well. EPA per play was in the 78th percentile. You know, eight point three completion over expectation. look, good. I'll look great. But again, it was the it was the defense for for the Jets not stepping up to the plate.
Alix (18:16.271)
Yeah.
Drew (18:17.629)
And, know, whether or not that's because the because they don't have Robert Sala there anymore. And he was kind of, holding things down. He's a defensive guy or, you know, I don't know what it was because they they had the same team, the same defense. I was back there and they had Hassan Reddick as well, too, in the game. Bill Belichick kind of called him out because he he was basically running past the quarterback and opening up
Alix (18:34.446)
text.
Drew (18:46.833)
I was scrambled lanes for Drake, Drake, May, and then also Jacobi percent. So, you know, whether or not it was addition or subtraction by addition by having him on the defense, who knows? But ultimately. Devante Adams is still not happy. Aaron Rodgers is talking about how he's in the darkness and he had to embrace the darkness, sounding like Bane.
Alix (18:53.132)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (19:16.161)
I was kind of, did you hear that quote that he had? It was like.
Alix (19:16.218)
You really adopted the lie. I was born in it.
Drew (19:22.865)
It's saying something about how, like I've been in darkness before, you just have to embrace it. And we're like, what are you talking about? So.
Alix (19:29.344)
Mm-hmm. Yikes. Yeah, so Drake may ended up getting hurt in this game. So Joe Kobe, Jacobi Percet ended up coming in and getting that basically game winning drive. And like, it's weird. This is the same team that you mentioned that they held to three points just a weeks ago. And the defense has been good at like certain times, but it has not nearly been as good as they were last year, which is why a lot of people thought like, okay, this is a returning defense.
Basically the same pieces you add a son Reddick. He had been battling with his contract negotiations and stuff like that. But now you do have a son Reddick and we're like, okay, so this will be the exact same defense just as good. It'll be elite if not pot potentially better. But there's also been a few times like this year where they've led up a lot. So they gave up obviously 32 points to the 49ers. They gave up 37 points to the Steelers just a week ago. And then when it comes to a game winning drive that you let the Patriots go on and you let them basically
milk clock all the way down and they score basically at the last 30 seconds. Like they just aren't able to get a stop. So I don't really know what's going on with the defense. Like you said, is it the Robert Sala? What is the situation? What is the case? They're not motivated. Whatever the case is. yeah, it just seems like a lost season. It's very unfortunate for the jets who a lot of people had high expectations for with Aaron Rodgers. And obviously last year was the injury and this year it's just the reality that they kind of suck. so going forward, it looks like this is the Bill's division to lose.
They are sitting three and a half games above everybody. And they are basically fully healthy right now. So that would probably be easy. Winner if you had to choose any division winner, I probably feel like they would probably be the most clear cut unless you're a Chiefs fan, I guess you could say. Moving on, we can stay within the AFC and talk a little bit about, we kind of touched on a little bit, the Browns getting that major upset over the Baltimore Ravens.
Obviously we have Deshaun who was out with a major injury, season injury that he had. Winston ended up stepping up and doing his best throwback James impression, but not the bad James, not the 30 for 30 James, the elite James out here, like you said, throwing for over 300 yards, ended up having three touchdowns and looked elite and talked about his post press conference interviews and stuff, no interceptions. And he was like, when I make good quarterback decisions,
Drew (21:39.288)
No interceptions.
Alix (21:46.432)
I am a great quarterback. I'm like, Hey, James, you don't throw the ball. They turn the turn the ball over. You are great. And this is kind of weird because this is what we've been talking about with the Ravens. They're this elite team. have this formula. have the best Russian tandem in NFL history. You could argue. And then they have these letdown games like they had against the Raiders and they lost the garden and mentioned then you lose against James Winston, who technically was the third string quarterback coming into the season for the Browns. So, I mean, thoughts on that.
Do you think that the Browns could have another random comeback season like they did with Joe Flacco last year? And do you still have confidence in the Ravens? Do you feel like this was just a let down game? Wounded Tiger Theory, if you will. And do you have any confidence in them going forward?
Drew (22:34.257)
Well, first of all, we all know it's the wounded duck theory. But no, I'm I'm not concerned about the Ravens at all. Like, sure. I don't know. Again, we talk about this, you know, for some reason, the Ravens always have one game where it's just like their big favorites in the game. There's there's no way they're going to lose. Yeah. And there's no way they're going to lose. And then they just, you know, put his roll out and.
Alix (22:37.164)
Okay, no.
Alix (22:54.522)
This is the second one!
Drew (23:02.971)
show up with their JV lineup and just basically pissed the bed. And that's exactly what ended up happening here. They took their opponent for granted. They came down. And to be fair, Lamar Jackson did go down and and have a game winning drive. Right. But then it ultimately was the defense again that ended up giving up the true game winning drive to Jamis and the Browns. And OK, and I believe it was Kyle Hamilton, too, that dropped in their reception. And, you know, that's
Alix (23:07.086)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (23:24.75)
Mm-hmm. Elite.
Drew (23:32.753)
That was literally on that drive. That was the full Jamis experience. You you had you had Jamis literally throwing it straight to Kyle Hamilton, hit him in the chest and he fumbled it six times and then he just dropped it. And then the very next play there was like, well, I was 40 something yard past to Cedric Tillman for the touchdown to end the game. And again, even though Jamis didn't have any interceptions on the the.
Alix (23:35.598)
That is true. That is true.
Alix (23:42.074)
Yeah, Merry Early Christmas.
Alix (23:54.724)
Subject human,
Drew (24:03.037)
During the game, he had three turnover worthy plays and he had the third highest turnover worthy percentage on on the week, even though he did not have any interceptions. The other two folks that are above him, as you can imagine, Trevor Lawrence with his turnover, where he plays with his fumbles and all that, those kinds of things. He had a eight point three turnover, where the percentage and then Dak Prescott with his two interceptions at six point eight.
Alix (24:04.046)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (24:11.204)
Hey.
Drew (24:31.867)
turnover with a percentage right below James Winston 6.7. So exactly.
Alix (24:31.898)
with
Alix (24:35.862)
INT zero fumbles zero turnovers zero. Hey James Winston was spreading that thing out though to pause He was out here again like nine different receivers in He's running the ball around okay There obviously this is without Amari Cooper still there so obviously Cedric Tillman Elijah Moore Jerry Judy David and Joku like everybody got involved and
Drew (24:47.537)
Jesus.
Drew (24:53.68)
Yeah.
Drew (25:02.864)
Everybody ate.
Alix (25:03.864)
Yeah, and this wasn't even a good running game for Nick Chubb. They only had 50 yards rushing, so everybody ate. yeah, the Browns are still sitting at two or six. Let's call it what it is. They ain't making the playoffs. it's entertaining, though. Hey, James Winston's out here, and it makes the Browns entertaining. So I'm kind of with you. I am a little bit concerned when it comes to the Ravens, just because they have letdown games. They play down to their competition.
Drew (25:17.219)
But that's where it starts, all right?
Alix (25:32.228)
kind of play up to their competition. But when they play up to their competitions, they lose their identity and they forget who they are. So it's like one of those things. It's like, I don't know how confident they are as a team. Their identity should just be being able to run the ball and just because nobody can stop it. But then you add Deontay Johnson and now, okay, like.
Drew (25:49.265)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (25:51.908)
Did you add him just to be able to have like a go to guy on third downs when you do need a great route or whatever the case may be? Or do you want Lamar to be a little bit more versatile and you know running and passing more again? Like I don't know what they want to do. I don't really know what their identity is. So that reason I am a little bit concerned. They still are sitting at five and three, so they're still sitting pretty much as a playoff spot as a wild card right now. The Steelers are number one in the division in the AFC North sitting at six and two as they just had.
the win last night against the Giants. Mike, me the coach of the year question mark. mean, is it already said and done? Like, what are we doing?
Drew (26:28.508)
I mean relax real quick
Alix (26:30.868)
What do you want? This man started Justin Fields, who was garbage from the Chicago Bears and the ghost of Russell Wilson and is out here just making A1 Wagyu beef out of mince meat. I mean, what you want?
Drew (26:45.251)
All I'm saying is that like what, who'd they just beat? The Giants? Like, okay, that's cool. That's cool. It's gonna get a lot harder from here. So.
Alix (26:50.894)
Brothers 6 and 2.
Alix (26:55.552)
I mean, I mean, yeah, I mean, they play the commanders and then they play the Ravens, then they play the Browns and they play the Bengals. I mean, like, those are some tough games, so we'll see.
Drew (27:07.409)
But also another quick note on on the Cleveland Browns. I'm trying not to dwell on this here, but so. Of the the teams and the players or other teams of the players that have played for the Browns over the past three years, there's only been six times where Deshaun Watson wasn't the quarterback in a row, I should say consecutively, and of the past six times.
Alix (27:26.554)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (27:36.389)
when he wasn't the quarterback, when he had somebody else filling in for him, aka James Winston, aka Joe Flacco. There's been 300 yard passing games in each one of those games. So the last six games that Deshaun Watson has not played for the Cleveland Browns, whatever quarterback that was, has thrown for 300 plus passing yards. Also,
Alix (27:43.332)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (27:52.826)
in
Alix (27:57.026)
Flacco, Jamus, whatever.
Drew (28:00.345)
Exactly. Also, Jamis also has just as many passing touchdowns over the past three years or as as as James Winston had in one game. So.
Alix (28:07.492)
Alright. Alright now, let's not doggone the Sean too much here. God damn it.
Hands is man's is all mine in his own business recovering. Either I'm just saying. Alright, so yeah, that's AFC in North touching on the AFC South real quick. We already talked about the Texans, Jaguars and Titans depths of. Number one pick in the draft. That's basically it. I don't really got too much to say about that. Hopkins is already traded from Tennessee, so I wouldn't be surprised if they move Calvin Ridley, but I've been at this point. I don't even know what they're going to do with that. Christian Kirk supposedly was already on the trade market.
Drew (28:20.731)
I'm just saying, I'll leave that there.
Alix (28:44.922)
But he ended up having his, I don't know if it's a season injury, basically fractured or broke his collarbone. So I don't, maybe you could touch on that. that, that's season ending you say?
Drew (28:49.605)
Yeah, he's done.
Yeah, season ending. I mean, especially as a wide receiver, like you, you can't even lift up your arm like that point. And exactly is really the only thing that's attaching the rest of the shoulder to the body. So like you kind of need it.
Alix (29:00.698)
I I kind of need that thing.
Alix (29:11.578)
So people were saying from the remaining receivers, B and Deontay Johnson and Christian Kirk prior to today, those were the two main trade targets for a lot of the contenders out there. So obviously, unfortunately, that's not going to happen, which is very unfortunate too, because I think Christian Kirk's on a contract year. This is his last year of his contract, so that's very unfortunate. But I think he got the bag from the Jaguars real quick though. I think it was like three years, 84 million. So I mean, he made his money. He made his money. But then we talked about it before the podcast started.
The Indianapolis Colts, who I guess had been on the fence on the quarterback decision, decided to bench Anthony Richardson going forward for my man Joe Flacco, who is now the starting quarterback going forward for the Indianapolis Colts, who I believe they're like two and one with Joe Flacco and like and four or one and four with Richardson or whatever. So I mean, thoughts on that.
Drew (30:05.009)
I mean, let me just pull this up real quick. This will perfectly describe what's going on with our boy Richardson here. Your boy, not my boy. I don't claim him anymore.
Alix (30:08.036)
Yo, boy.
Alix (30:13.37)
Your boy. did not let you or the one out here praising Anthony Richardson start the season.
Drew (30:24.069)
Wait, man, you everybody makes mistakes. You know what saying? Everybody has those days. Let me see. Is this the right time here? yeah, there it is.
Alix (30:25.974)
Okay. I don't know exactly what happened, but midway through the game, he took a playoff and that's the main thing that people are talking about. And people are saying that he was frustrated. He was angry. He said he was tired. So he said a lot that had to do with that. my God.
Drew (30:44.517)
So as you can see here, this is just the quarterbacks that have been playing this year. If you look at EPA for play plus completion percentage over expectation as a composite rating there, you see where Anthony Richardson lies on this plot. That's not good. Especially if that's your top overall draft pick, that's not good. And then you have at least you have Bo Nix over here. Like Will Leves is even on this.
Alix (30:45.018)
You
Alix (31:12.57)
Hey, hey, Nick's a five and three. Spencer Ratler, bro, come on.
Drew (31:13.741)
is this side over here. I mean, DeJon Watson's not even that bad. Like, brother, like, come on, dude. That's, you know, so all I'm saying is I feel like this is OK. I talk about him. He's doing he's doing exactly what we wanted him to do. He's doing the Lord's work out there. You know, we're taking taking for Chedir, you know, saying. But more of the story is Anthony Richardson had to go.
Alix (31:26.488)
Who's he play for?
Should do a re-test.
Drew (31:43.377)
You know, when you put up a game where it was at halftime, he was two for 15. He needed to finish in the game was a two for 18 or something crazy like that. I think the only other only other player that had a worse QB rating or QB completion percentage in a game was, man, I'm going to I'm going to butcher this. Yeah, I'm not going to remember who it was, but basically.
Alix (31:51.642)
Yeah
Alix (32:07.322)
He finished the game 10 of 32 with a 30 QBR.
Drew (32:10.193)
Yeah, that's not good. But basically, there's only one other quarterback that has played over the past 20 years that has had a worse completion percentage than that. But it doesn't end there. So if we share this other tab here and we look down here. So this is pulling from 2018 all the way to 2014.
all quarterbacks that have played at least 100 snaps in the NFL. If you look at completion percentage in general as a whole, look where Anthony Richardson lies on that plot there. You see him all the way at the bottom, only to your boy Ryan Finley. least Matt Barkley is ahead of him. Shout out to USC. Anthony Richardson, not it. Really not it, So I'll just leave that there.
Alix (32:45.274)
Yeah.
Alix (33:02.273)
Yikes. Yikes.
That's, yeah, that's really bad. We had a little debate about this, you know, I think on the podcast and stuff like that. I've never, I, Anthony Richardson has the body type as we talked about of Cam Newton. Bands can't throw like Cam Newton and gets hurt all the time because he doesn't know how to slide. And he thinks that he's out here looking like he's like, I'm built like Derek Henry. Let me go run some people over. No, that's not how that works.
Yeah, very unfortunate. It's kind of weird. You know, we had the situation earlier this season where Bryce Young was benched for Andy Dalton. So benched for the old veteran. And I talked about how like we really could probably mess with your psyche as a quarterback, especially when people had high expectations for Anthony Richardson, not just when it came to fantasy as he was drafted as like a top five fantasy quarterback. But when it comes to
Reality, you know you have Josh Downs you have Michael Pittman you have a healthy Jonathan Taylor So you have all these options and weapons and we thought that you know people could make make some noise and possibly give the Texans a run for the money in the division But yeah, they still sitting up for and for so they feel like they can salvage the season obviously That's why they're starting Joe Flacco because they think that he's gonna be the one that can actually you know Give them the best chance at winning but very unfortunate for somebody that they drafted third overall Just a couple years ago
Drew (33:57.147)
Hmm.
Drew (34:23.151)
And I mean, that's the thing, too. It's like he he doesn't give you the best opportunity to win. And Joe Flacco, like even with his old ass, like he still gives the Browns a better opportunity when he gave the Colts a better opportunity to win. it kind of.
Alix (34:37.699)
I'm gonna get starting job. I'm telling you back for the legit we go to the Raiders and start for them or something
Drew (34:40.561)
No, legit. Like he said, go back to the Super Bowl again. Super Bowl Joe Flacco. But I mean, that's the thing, though, too. It's like it kind of shows like how just how bad these quarterbacks are when you have this good of of coaching. When you have a comparable quarterback, like a middle of the pack quarterback, you and you have a like a pretty solid head coach and Stefanski or
Alix (35:03.578)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (35:10.117)
blanking on on the Colts head coach. But between those two, not right. Yes, man, it's going to bother me anyways. Between those two, when you have when you have both of those head coaches going and you give them a half decent quarterback, Stikin, that's what it was. Yeah. Between Stikin and between Kevin Stefanski, give him a half decent quarterback and they are actually able to manufacture wins.
Alix (35:13.402)
Mm.
Alix (35:27.162)
Shane's Viking.
Alix (35:39.431)
it's not my fault. I told you!
Drew (35:39.597)
It might not be pretty. It's no legit. Like that's that's that's pretty much what it's making it seem like. And one interesting thing to hear. This is this is kind of hilarious. Average depth of target for Anthony Richardson. Sixteen point eight or sorry, 18 Jesus. Fifteen point eight, which is in the ninety ninth percentile. So basically, you know, he's targeting all the way down the field. He can slang that thing. Legit.
Alix (36:06.594)
Alec Pierce down there somewhere. God dammit.
Drew (36:09.649)
But completion over expectation, first percentile. So basically the expected completion percentage was 57%, which means that he's making a lot of difficult throws, which again means he's chucking that thing down the field, not making high percentage throws. And he's not completing a lot of them because they're hard throws to make and hard throws to complete. So his completion percentage, as you said before, 32.3 % and his
expected QB rating was 23.2 23.2. Like they didn't have a choice after this game. Like if you were to start him after this and he was saying, I was tired and. Exactly, so it it's it's tough if you're a Colts fan, at least you know, again, you were you were close in this game, you were competitive. But now.
Alix (36:50.911)
Especially with this effort came into question too. Yeah
Alix (37:03.918)
think Colts, a lot of Colts fans might be happy, honestly.
So yeah, speaking of which, talk about some more rookie quarterbacks. We did have the rookie quarterback matchup. Some bullshit. The Bears and the Washington Commanders, you know, had Caleb Williams and Jada McDaniels facing each other. And it was, you know, it was not that great of a game, not too much offensive production. The Commanders aren't really known for their defense. The defense has improved over the past couple weeks, especially because they were just basically doing shootouts when it came to most teams.
able to hold the Bears 15 points in that for Chicago they thought that was going be enough to end up winning that game and then Jay McDaniels does his best Aaron Rodgers impression is like let me throw this 60 yard bomb Hail Mary and basically I don't know what the Colts DB's and safeties are doing or the Bears DB's and safeties are doing they're like you know what let's play hot potato and just tip this ball up in the air and then it goes into the back of the end zone and then I don't even remember what receiver that was that Noah Brown ends up coming down with a catch and basically the
Drew (38:06.459)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (38:07.162)
commanders went on a walk off. The not a great game for Caleb Williams. ain't gonna flex. 10 for 24, 131 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, but no touchdowns. 41 yards Russian. So this is the best Russian game, basically all that they could do. And then Jaden McDaniels ended up being 21 to 38 for 326 yards and he got his 50 yards rushing in as well. So like we've talked about, looks like Jaden McDaniels, Jaden Daniels has this Ricky of the year kind of sealed in the bag.
Drew (38:13.617)
Yes, yes,
Alix (38:37.178)
there was a chance that it could possibly be Marvin Harrison after his week two, or a chance with Malik neighbors, but he dealt with his concussion. So now, with the commander sitting at six and two, over the Cowboys over the Eagles, everything like that. I wouldn't be surprised if their coach ends up winning coach of the year. which I believe is, who's the former Cowboys Dan Quinn. yeah. So he's also a high candidate for coach of the year as well.
Drew (38:37.509)
in the bag.
Hell no.
Drew (38:44.943)
Hell.
Drew (38:59.695)
Yep, Dan Quinn.
Alix (39:04.28)
with the Philadelphia Eagles sitting at five and two, just a game behind them, technically half game. And then the Dallas Cowboys sitting at three and four. So yeah, I think that the future is really bright for the commanders. I think that they're going to try to go after some wide receivers and some weapons in the draft just to build around Jayden with Terry McLaurin already there. And yeah, so thoughts on them and how do you feel that the NFC East is going to shape up going forward? You think the Eagles going to catch them? You think the Cowboys are, I don't even know about that. I'm done with the Cowboys, bro. It's bad.
It's bad. Panic button.
Drew (39:37.771)
yeah, no legit. if I may, one, one last quick note on it on your boy, Anthony Richardson. so if you, okay, I promise this last thing. Okay. Average completion, air yards, C A Y in parentheses there, if you want to abbreviate it. So C A Y was, 8.2. Okay. That's, that's pretty high. That's pretty good. And is average intended air yards.
Alix (39:42.81)
my god.
Alix (39:57.22)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (40:02.265)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (40:07.473)
16.1. Again, going back to like chucking that thing down the field, but in actuality, you're only completing the passes that are basically at the sticks. Like why the hell are you throwing the ball that far down the field if you aren't completing any of those passes? Another thing too off of that, a of averages, one of them's gotta work. Another thing off of that as well, if you go onto next gen stats and check out
Alix (40:09.251)
Man's is bad.
Alix (40:25.018)
One of them gonna connect.
Alix (40:31.086)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (40:37.231)
those ratings in terms of passer rating. Anthony Richardson had a 48.3 passer rating this week, which was the worst. The second worst was your boy, Kayla Williams, at 59.5. Again, I was never super high on Kayla Williams. We were always trying to crown him like he was some king, some god. please. Like.
Alix (40:57.892)
Give him time. Give him time. And send my four and three. I mean, I know James been great, but I mean, like there's worse thing, but four and three as a rookie. mean, just, I'm just saying, I mean, he ain't Jamie Gales. And I don't know why Bo Nicks is out here quietly just like five and three for no reason for the Broncos. That's just like, but I mean, Hey man, give him his flowers.
Drew (41:08.207)
That is, that is fair.
Drew (41:14.341)
Wait a-
I'm just saying like he he was doing pretty damn bad this game like it was not looking good at halftime. It's like that quote they had us in the first half. It was in the first half and well I don't know about all that. was like I said like I said a couple weeks ago.
Alix (41:26.842)
You should have won the game. They should have won the game. That's all I'm saying. Should have won the game. What do mean? There's like a 1 % chance success rate on that at play.
Drew (41:37.893)
Like I said a couple of weeks ago, let me immediately put in that bet. Regardless of whether Jaden Daniels was hurt or not. I didn't say no spread. Regardless of the spread, regardless of the spread, regardless they covered. That's all that matters. That's all I care about. And with that too, I won my bet. That's really matters anyway. But yeah, so Caleb Williams had a negative 2.0.
Alix (41:43.962)
You wanted the spread. You had him. Yeah, he it back. Yeah.
Okay.
Alix (42:00.282)
Alright. Let's East.
Drew (42:06.769)
or negative point to seven EPA per play this game on 39 plays. Even though his average depth target was 97 percentile at 13.2, again, he was chucking that thing down the field, but a lot of low percentage throws for him playing a game that is not necessarily his strength, especially with when you imagine you'd have a better chance against one of the worst defenses in the league to be able to put up a better.
Alix (42:33.06)
Yay.
Drew (42:35.237)
that
Alix (42:37.262)
This was the stand game.
Alix (42:48.398)
Hey, hey, the commander, I'm just saying, hey, I'm just saying the commanders have held like three of the past four teams to under to under 15 points the past three games. just saying.
Drew (42:54.288)
You just say it.
Drew (43:00.142)
Who they play recently? No, you go ahead and say who they play recently.
Alix (43:01.324)
It don't The browns, the panthers, and the bears. That's fine.
Drew (43:09.137)
Yeah, okay, exactly. That's what saying. Like, who are they?
Alix (43:10.97)
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Jacobi Brissette just dropped 25 on the Jets who were supposed to have an elite defense. I'm just like.
Drew (43:17.883)
Bro, Jacobi Persec's elite, bro. You heard it here first, I'm just saying. But no, okay. But that's one thing too, it's like the commanders, maybe they look good this week on defense. Again, taking into consideration who these teams are playing. They're gonna look good against bad teams because they're bad teams.
Alix (43:42.502)
They play the Giants this week, that defense ratings, they're going to improve. God damn it.
Drew (43:46.147)
Exactly.
Exactly. mean, when they played against Baltimore, they gave up a 30 piece. So like they played against, they played against a good team. They give up 30 points. That's not good. You don't you want your defense giving up 30 points a week? No.
Alix (43:53.882)
It's not terrible.
Alix (43:58.458)
You're not there, right? You're not there.
If I have Jane Mc- if I have Jane- I keep calling him McDaniels. If I have Jane Daniels on my team, then shit, I might- I might- I might be okay.
Drew (44:05.585)
Guys, I am.
Drew (44:09.745)
Okay, anyways, when they play against, I even when they play against Pittsburgh, that'll be a good test because now they actually have comparable quarterback play back there. And then when they're playing against Philadelphia, that'll be an even better test to see how their defense holds up with that. I feel like that one's going to be a high scoring game, probably be played in honestly, probably like the 60s in terms of the total. I bet that they'll put the total around like 50, 51 or something like that. So.
Alix (44:28.985)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (44:36.474)
So you got commanders winning this division or what? I'm still sitting with the Eagles, I ain't gonna lie to you.
Drew (44:40.849)
I'm not gonna lie, I-
I'm still with the Eagles too, but I did sprinkle some to cover myself with my Eagles bet that I had all the way back in like February. right now I have, I believe I have the Eagles at plus money because at the time it was the Cowboys that were favored, not sure why, but Eagles plus money. And then also I got the commanders at plus money too. So in theory, as long as.
Alix (44:48.442)
Just a hat to do it.
Drew (45:12.857)
As long as the Giants don't win and as long as the Cowboys don't win, makes money. And even if either one of them win, still profit. So we're good. But I mean, with the way that the Eagles are playing on defense, man, I don't know. And doesn't look like their offense is really clicking either. So I'm not sure what's going on with with the team, but it's not looking like it's it's it's right. There's something wrong going on.
Alix (45:24.1)
there, nice.
Alix (45:41.018)
Thanks. Well, that is pretty much the majority of the games that we had over the past week. Was there anything else that you wanted to touch on when it came to teams before we get into our picks for this upcoming weekend?
Drew (45:52.081)
nah, I mean, there was just the game. We didn't even talk about that much, but I mean, I really need to with the Cowboys and and the 49ers there. But the main thing being that, you know, Cowboys bad at football, they're they're not good. This is not their year. And, you know, their defense, since they have everyone out and hurt on defense, it's it's really starting to show. And they.
Alix (46:09.229)
It's tough.
Alix (46:16.484)
right?
Drew (46:21.753)
DAC is is being like James Winston right now. it's exactly and it's you can do that when you have an elite defense, you can get away with those kinds of things. But, you know, right now, with the defense in the in the state that it's in, that's not going to win you any games, especially when in terms of EPA per play, their 30th, the only teams that are worse than that right now. The Carolina Panthers.
Alix (46:26.116)
Bad genus.
Alix (46:41.912)
Yeah.
Drew (46:51.365)
and the Jacksonville Jaguars. So that's not company you want to be in.
Alix (46:53.752)
Yeah, it's tough because like last they make any moves. They lost Tony Pollard and they're like, you know what, we're going to bring in the, the corpse of Zeke and the historic, you know, fossil of Delvin cook and be like, we'll be all right. And then they make any really changes and then you lose two of your best defenders. and don't make any additions. And then you have the Brandon cooks in dream who I'm not saying Brandon cooks is like a world beater, but as a wide receiver too, he's actually pretty solid and he was good for them last year. So.
Then you kind of have Tolbert trying to fill in and you know, it's just basically CD and that's it. So now teams just bracketing CD and nobody else can get open. And that's pretty much it. And then they make these miraculous comebacks at the end of the game that aren't really comebacks because the teams are switching up their defenses and kind of just playing more of a prevent defense. So mean, like you're able to score. It just takes more time off the clock. And yeah, that's kind of where you're at. You paid DAC highest paid player in NFL history. You played CD top three highest paid wide receivers in NFL history.
Drew (47:38.289)
Hmm.
Alix (47:53.498)
And now you got Micah coming up on the off season. He's gonna be like, Hey, I know I'm injured, but I'm gonna eat my bread though. So like you're, you're in win now mode. Now you're sitting at three and four. Not only do you have the Eagles who are good as we expect to sit in that five and two. Now you have this new team of the commanders and you're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Drew (47:59.985)
Mm.
Drew (48:22.907)
bruh
Alix (48:23.386)
And then going forward, what do the rest of the schedule look like? You play the Texans, you play the Cowboys or you play the Eagles, you play, my goodness, play the Falcons this week, then the Eagles, then the Texans, then the commanders. So I mean, that's a gauntlet in itself and you're already sitting at three and four. So in theory, you'd need to go at least three and one in order to keep your head above water and potentially make a shot at the wild card. I don't see them going three and one in that stretch.
Drew (48:49.893)
No, definitely not. And, know, it's it's one of those things to where like the problem might actually be the owner as opposed to the players that are on the field and trying to give the players a better opportunity to win by giving the team actual good players on the field. Because they again, like you mentioned, they didn't do anything in the offseason. They were just like, yeah, no, we're good, man. We're good. We got we we got.
Alix (48:59.386)
you
Drew (49:18.469)
We can just bring Zeke back. He was good before. And then we got Rico down like this. like. But yeah, I.
Alix (49:24.378)
Hey, I told you Rico down. And this has been like one of the biggest like wide receiver, trade deadline, like moves and stuff. had Hopkins, you had Adams, you had Deontay Johnson, you had, freaking Amari Cooper. So like you, could have brought him out. You could have brought all these players potentially in and it's not like they were going for first or second round picks. Like they went for third round picks, fourth round picks, fifth, sixth round pick swaps. So it's not like you couldn't have made.
Drew (49:37.233)
Mm.
Alix (49:53.782)
any moves. I mean, now you kind of made your bed and got a line and if you're Jerry Jones.
Drew (49:55.366)
Hmm.
Drew (49:59.281)
Basically, people were going for bags of Skittles and almonds and stuff too. That's crazy. Especially Deontay Johnson. I feel like Deontay Johnson is worth a little bit more than what he was given for.
Alix (50:09.933)
as well.
I think the Panthers are still paying a good part of his salary too. if you're a Ravens fan, I'd be phenomenal with that train. So going forward, you want to get us started here with some picks that you have for this upcoming week?
Drew (50:17.221)
Yeah, it's crazy.
Drew (50:23.537)
Mm.
Drew (50:32.113)
I don't have any locked in just yet. have a couple that I'm on. But yeah, I haven't updated the young model here just yet. But the first ones that I'm kind of leaning on though, if we go all the way over to that Thursday night game, the Jets are looking, I kind of like the Jets in this game. Like why are the Jets favorite?
Alix (50:35.428)
You only have like one or two, so.
Alix (50:40.346)
Mm.
Alix (50:53.454)
Bro, that was the same one I was about to make.
Alix (50:59.468)
Eww!
Drew (51:02.225)
Why are the Jets favored and they're two and six? You know what mean? Like there's no way in hell that Stefan Diggs is not worth that many points to the line. Let me see here. Let me pull up what the spread was before.
Alix (51:06.04)
because they lost the Fawn Biggs and they're at home.
Alix (51:12.09)
What the home?
Alix (51:16.794)
It's that MetLife, you know, if Stefan and Nico are both healthy, I think it would be Texans plus three and a half or four. you know, take away Nico, minus three and a half, four, yeah. Take away Nico, take away Stefan Diggs, know what I'm saying? Jets are at home. This is basically, their season's basically already over at two and six, but if you go on two and seven, there ain't no.
Drew (51:25.553)
mean, minus three and a half.
Drew (51:34.737)
Let me see here.
Drew (51:43.825)
So if we go here, so Houston.
Alix (51:46.234)
I'll bet you right now you knew the Texans.
Heh.
Drew (51:50.935)
my computer froze here. right. Let's see. So what is this? eight? Week nine? Yeah. Is that right? Yeah, there we go.
Alix (51:57.132)
None.
Already over halfway through the year, yep.
Drew (52:06.193)
All right, so week nine before the season started, the Texans were, yeah, three, like you said, three and a half point favorites. So I don't think like, so what that move? Like five points?
Alix (52:23.29)
You don't think Nico and Stefan digs like you're number two number two? Yeah.
Drew (52:28.485)
They're not worth no five points.
Like that's crazy. That is actually wild. So like, I think that that's.
Alix (52:38.746)
This is I work for Vegas and you don't.
Drew (52:42.801)
yeah, I'm, taking the jets. okay. You know, by all means. Okay. I'm just saying, like, there's a reason why, you know, the team's favored and, one and a half points here. It's kind of fishy. It makes no sense. And also it's
Alix (52:45.742)
Give me the Texans.
Wounded Tiger.
Alix (53:03.214)
It's moving too, because it was too earlier today.
Drew (53:06.513)
Yeah. And so if you if you also take a look and look at the best splits, 81 % of the bets Alex 81 % of the bets are on are on the Texans, bro. Like, come on, prime time game. You're to absolutely I got I am legally obligated to bet on that game. Like I don't want to, but I am legally obligated to that is absurd. Prime time game. 81 % of the bets.
Like that's that's crazy. Lock it up. Jets by a million.
Alix (53:41.26)
He said just by a million Fair fine Yeah, I have the Texas in this game and the only other game that I ended up did like in a team was your fucking your commanders Over the Giants understand. It's basically like a make-or-break game for the Giants as well But I mean I still don't see why the the commanders would only be favored by a few points I think it's only like two and a half or three right now unless it's moved since last time I checked
But I would take the commanders in there, especially if their defense looks like they are going to come to play Especially our drew says in these weak teams that they're playing well I consider the Giants a weak team in that same category So yeah, I'll take the commanders in that spot, please and thank you
Drew (54:24.721)
Yeah, I mean, as long as the as long as Andrew Thomas is hurt for the of the giants, I'm Yeah, like. I'm I have no choice but to bet against whoever they're playing. It could be the Panthers, bro. I don't care. They are not they cannot stop a nosebleed without Andrew Thomas there at Life Tackle. It.
Alix (54:34.626)
and Tyrone Chase is gonna be out.
Drew (54:52.975)
They basically put that man on on First Street and they just said he's for sale. Take your pick. And like it was bad, bro. Like I almost feel bad for Daniel Jones because it makes him look really bad. man, he's just getting sacked all the time. He can't even get any throws off. He's, getting their septic because he he has pressure in his face on every every drop back. Like, you know, the man can only do so much when you drop back to pass. And as soon as you
Alix (55:09.476)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (55:22.213)
get into your five step drop, you're already being tackled. And so.
Alix (55:26.98)
Yeah. And like, this is like the yearly thing too. Now people are saying, Daniel Jones, like, you know, are you thinking about making this change a quarterback? And coach is still like, nah, still Daniel Jones.
Drew (55:39.479)
Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, and before before this or before this past week, I should say, you the Giants were 25th in the league in terms of pressures allowed on on pass plays in particular. And then in terms of sacks that were allowed, they actually. We're doing pretty, pretty decent in terms of scripted pass plays.
Alix (56:04.442)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (56:08.933)
However, obviously they had to run a lot of plays. so in terms of like the percentage, yeah, sure it was lower, but that's also because they were down a lot more and they had to pass a lot more. Whereas the Jets, they are notorious for being a slow offense and they've given up almost double the percentage that the Giants have and they're 31st in the league in terms of sacks allowed there.
Alix (56:36.014)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (56:38.693)
So all I'm saying is it's not all Daniel Jones' fault. It's more so the offensive line not giving him a chance. Even though when you do give Daniel Jones a chance, he still isn't great, but he's not terrible, serviceable, I should say.
Alix (56:51.386)
Yeah, facts. Alright, well that's pretty much all I got. Did you have any other games that you looking at?
Drew (57:00.591)
Yeah, I, you know, I'm tempted on that, on that, that Seahawks game, but, but then you look at the bats plates and stuff and it's 70 % on the, on the Rams and that's just gross, but it is a dog to fave line move there. I think if, if they said that DK was going to play, yeah, you guys are at home. Okay.
Alix (57:01.818)
You know!
Alix (57:09.828)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (57:13.859)
Oof.
Alix (57:23.162)
Are we home?
Alix (57:28.44)
Hmm.
Drew (57:29.677)
If DK doesn't play, that might be an automatic, maybe an automatic play for the Rams there. But yeah, ultimately, I those games are those NFC West games are always close. And so if anything, I might I might be tempted to tease up the tease up the Seahawks there and you know, OK.
Alix (57:38.575)
Yeah.
Alix (57:45.678)
Yeah, they're fun.
Alix (57:55.673)
Yeah
You
Drew (57:58.997)
and then also I'd probably, I'd probably tease up the, the Colts there as well too. especially with, especially with my boy, Joe Flacco back at the helm. I like that. you like that? I like that. and that'll, yeah, that'll be solid there. other, other than that, these other games, they're kind of gross. I'm holding off on them.
Alix (58:06.113)
I'm do... Yeah.
Alix (58:20.154)
Yeah.
Alix (58:27.415)
Yeah, I...
Drew (58:28.651)
Yeah, these...
Alix (58:32.088)
Yeah, I really interested in the other games. The Rams scare me because that offense is noise and our defense is not. And Matthew Stafford cannot move, but he can navigate the pocket real quick. Because I think it was like they're in the red zone against the Vikings and they had him dead to right straight sack. Somehow, someway, this man maneuvered and ended up scrambling in the pocket and then ended up throwing a wide open cup. And I was was low key pissed off because I was like, hold on.
Drew (58:42.481)
Thanks.
Alix (59:01.55)
Why is he moving like that? But yeah, I'm just that concerns me. I think that if DK plays, we'll be able to score, be able to move the ball. It's not really that big of a concern for me. It's just being able to stop the Rams because if it gets close, no, I'm concerned. So yeah. And then, yeah, I don't mean I don't mind the Joe Flacco thing. I think that this is going to be like a kind of a big game for the Vikings though. That's the only reason I wouldn't. They're kind of like, you know, on this two game slid.
Drew (59:03.601)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (59:30.254)
slide over after starting 5-0. So I think that they really need this game to get back on the right track. And I think that the Colts may get a slight resurgence with Joe Flacco back at quarterback, but I still think that they're a great team even with him. So I mean, we'll see. It might be kind of a little bit of shootout. Joe Flacco's good at those ones. So yeah.
Drew (59:51.217)
Quick side note here on the Seahawks too, in terms of getting pressure on the quarterback. Interesting thing here, I've been compiling my own stats and stuff so I can filter out the way I want to and not being subjected to the man. Anyways, so when you filter out the players on the team that have played at least four games this year, this was based on last week's data. So basically played in half the games.
Alix (01:00:08.356)
Boy.
Drew (01:00:21.073)
And then you do that as a percentage in terms of this amount of snaps that that those players have played in terms of pressure percentage for the team the Seahawks are actually number one in the league at 18 points 12 percent of Snaps that they've they've played that qualify for those statistics in the league. So I mean that
That doesn't bode well for Matthew Stafford, so that is a pretty solid point there. And we did see the line kind of trickle down from a booze at three before a little earlier when the line first dropped. And so now it's down to two. So that might be it might be interesting little sneaky play there, Mr. Harrison, especially after, you know, Geno looking as bad as he did and playing as bad as as they did in that last game. That is.
Alix (01:01:10.106)
Yeah.
Drew (01:01:15.505)
That is mighty interesting for sure. The only thing that would be concerning is, like he said before, the Seahawks secondary, as they cannot guard me or you in that secondary. okay. So that'd be my concern on that. And one last thing, one last game I want to mention here, because we see your...
Alix (01:01:24.398)
Mm-hmm.
Alix (01:01:28.858)
No, they definitely can't guard me.
Thank
Alix (01:01:40.858)
and we'll see
Drew (01:01:44.785)
your Chicago Bears over there. Sitting pretty, four and three, going on, taking on the Cardinals here. And we have a nice dog to fave line move. Really only one point, but one point matters. And I am tempted, I am mighty tempted, Mr. Harris, do you wanna call your shot on this game? Do you wanna take the other side?
Alix (01:01:46.734)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. We have blasted the division still.
Alix (01:02:14.136)
Hey, you give me the Texans and I'll I'll take the Bears
Drew (01:02:14.491)
They're either the same team, right?
Alix (01:02:24.826)
10 bucks. Both of them gotta win.
Drew (01:02:26.513)
I'll give you the Patriots.
Yeah, I got the titans,
Alix (01:02:38.596)
care about that game. I'm not, you're not gonna watch, nobody's watching that game. No you won't. Nobody said anything about the Patriots and Titans. I will take the Bears and the Texans for 10 bucks. You can take the Cardinals and the Jets. Both of them gotta win to get the money otherwise it's no avoid if it's split.
Drew (01:02:44.346)
I'll watch it.
Drew (01:03:01.445)
Hmm. Hmm. That is... That is mighty tempting. you know? Okay.
Alix (01:03:07.074)
Money line, of course.
That helps you.
Drew (01:03:14.545)
That's gross.
Drew (01:03:18.961)
You know what? Well, see, my thing, I don't know what I'm gonna get from Kyler, especially because, like, they are at home, which always is good.
Alix (01:03:24.858)
I would say it's 50-50. To be honest though, he's 11 touchdowns, two interceptions. Like he's been playing, he's been playing, he's had a couple of, know, dud games, but overall he's been playing good. James Connor been playing good. Marvin Harrison, you all know what you're going to get for him, but Trey McBride been playing pretty good. And man's can't catch.
Drew (01:03:36.379)
Mmm.
Drew (01:03:44.329)
when they throw the damn ball, he playing good. Okay. Yeah. The, see the, the thing is though, like, even though they, the, bears gave up that last second play, the bears, the bears defense has actually been playing pretty damn good football. Like they're, pretty under. Yeah. They're right now in pro football focus in terms of defensive rating, they're fifth. Like that's. Yeah. I don't know.
Alix (01:03:59.532)
the best evens legit they've carried them
Alix (01:04:08.866)
No, I would call them Elite Defense.
Drew (01:04:14.129)
Like I said, I just said that it was interesting. I just thought it was interesting. I didn't say I wanted to do it. You know what I'm
Alix (01:04:15.45)
Hahaha
well you did say you wanted to do the Jets, so we can just do that game itself and I'll take the Texans. It's fine, that's fine, we can just do the one games.
Drew (01:04:25.841)
I don't want to go against you. Why can't I just have my bet and be happy? I don't want to lose money twice. I just want to lose money once. Fine. You know what? Let's do it. Give me... Nah, I just want the one. I'm going crazy now. I just want the one. I'll take my jets. J-E-T-S. Jets, jets, jets.
Alix (01:04:29.924)
Fine hey, I'm just saying Staying on business stay in on business
You want both or you just want the one?
Mm-hmm. Yeah, I'll take seconds plus two.
All right, cool. That'll do it when it comes to the football. We are going to have an episode coming up here shortly. Soon when it comes to NBA and getting in some of our picks and stuff like that as the season has started. Hey, you know what saying? We had that little loss yesterday. That was cute. But you know what saying? You know the Malaykers. We'll be looking good. JJ Reddick out here actually running plays, off-ball movement. Drew AD actually looking like a monster. my goodness. I'm loving it. Sitting at three and one. Hey, man's playing 70.
Drew (01:05:16.827)
bro
As long as he stays healthy.
Alix (01:05:23.994)
70 games last year. What do you want from them?
Drew (01:05:27.045)
Yeah, and I'm just saying what happened with the 49ers.
Alix (01:05:30.2)
You see, this is what happens, see, Drew's wishing injuries on people, that is terrible. You are, Drew is out here, all he wants to do is put his name out there, was like, I'm Drew, Mr. Moore, physical therapy and stuff like that. Hey, no, that's fucked up. Drew's like, the California physical therapist is trash.
Drew (01:05:33.393)
I'm not wishing anything on anybody, I'm not wishing- I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
Drew (01:05:47.481)
I mean, I don't know what's in that water. I'm just saying, that's crazy how a lot of those California players be getting injured. You know just saying?
Alix (01:05:50.522)
Cali!
Alix (01:05:55.822)
Rams, Lakers, 49ers. I don't know what the baseball injuries are looking like. Hey, don't know, show me your tiny. Speaking of baseball, side note real quick. Hey, go Yankees out here.
Drew (01:05:59.931)
Mm-hmm.
Drew (01:06:03.697)
Let me show you, Tony. know what saying? what the fuck?
Alix (01:06:11.574)
Here, know keeping the series alive going 11 winning 11 to 4 and stuff like that I don't know what kind of drugs Freddy Freedman's on but he did hit his third straight home run of the I don't know. What does that man do it? I don't understand Why can you throw in and fastballs inside you just fucking stuff? I don't understand. Stop it
Drew (01:06:13.647)
Bro.
Drew (01:06:20.409)
Dude, yeah. Animal.
I mean...
Drew (01:06:28.849)
You know, I'm not gonna it was kind of crazy though because that first grand slam that he hit to walk off the Yankees in game one You can even as as my girlfriend about this. I was standing up. I was acting like I was up to bat You know saying I was okay. Let me I was like, right. All Okay lay off that one. I Did but you know, I was which hitter, know saying you know how it is. No, I out here but yeah,
Alix (01:06:35.533)
Yeah.
Alix (01:06:43.45)
Did you go left-handed left-handed I do not know that. I don't think you were a single hitter, but
Drew (01:06:54.321)
Okay, anyways, so I was up there. I was like, okay, let's see what we got. Let's see what they're throwing. this can be fastball. Let me get this one. Get this piece of timing perfect. And then all of a sudden, ka-bang. You know what saying? You might want to put an outfield out there just in case. Ka-bang. And that happened. And the rest was history. So basically I felt like I hit the home run essentially is what I'm saying. But go Dodgers.
Alix (01:07:06.522)
my gosh.
the
I see.
Why, why, why do, why does MLB do like back to back? like with the NBA, like you do the two and two, or I guess they do two and three, like you were saying for MLB and stuff, but they play the home games back to back to back. So you have a third game tomorrow. You have game five tomorrow. That's a lot.
Drew (01:07:38.513)
Yeah, well, I mean, that's that's baseball, right? Like baseball, you know, you usually have three game series, four game series and stuff like that versus like NBA. You know, sure, you'd have a couple back to back, but you wouldn't usually have like three games in a row like that. If you have three games in a row. You do now. Well, you know, soft, that's what that's what the problem is. Yeah, you got to simulate it to as as as best as you can. And then that way in terms of baseball.
Alix (01:07:50.791)
You don't even have you never have two games in a row. There's always a game off in between, not in playoffs.
Alix (01:07:58.861)
Okay, all right, cool.
Drew (01:08:06.545)
That way it's more strategy that has to go into it to where, okay, I can't throw this picture back to back because I got to give them rest and everything. You don't want it to aren't to fall off. Then they tell me John the whole nine yards versus in the NBA. You can play a man 48 minutes. Okay, we got a day off travel day. we got two days off. we got a whole last week off. Like what, is that? You know what I'm What is that? Okay. Yep.
Alix (01:08:27.162)
Ain't trying to hear any of that Yankees in seven this game will be finished on Saturday, November 2nd No, no, I don't care. I am surprised. I got one. I ain't gonna lie to you I thought this was gonna be a clean sweep
Drew (01:08:38.113)
Mean I Mean I feel like if it was a clean sweep Then the the New York City would be on fire right now and it still might be on fire even though they're they're gonna lose So but
Alix (01:08:48.026)
Yeah, they're ready to behead Aaron judge. Also a side note though. Why, why, why do they have a Juan Carlos Stanton out here trying to run from second base to home? Jean Carlos Stanton. That's, that was the slowest I've ever seen somebody run in my life other than maybe, what's his, that's Jacobi Berset. was basically it. was I don't know why they had him do that. That was rude.
Drew (01:08:59.617)
Young Hollow Stanton.
Hmm.
which
Drew (01:09:09.723)
bro. This is slowest black quarterback that Gerard May was saying. That's hilarious.
Alix (01:09:17.849)
Yeah.
Drew (01:09:18.575)
I mean, like, he almost made it home, but he just had to unhook the trailer.
Alix (01:09:23.226)
Yeah, any other person in MLB, I feel like, would have made it home. feel like if I came to Prince Field, it would have made it home back in the day. This man was so slow, and then he got hosed.
Drew (01:09:29.083)
Bro. mean, yeah, I mean, to be fair, like he usually just has to, you know, jog around the bases. just. Well, I mean, he has been he has been hit bombs like Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge is the one that has been, you know, being playing worse than anybody out there. But he's basically the Sean Watson of baseball right now in the playoffs.
Alix (01:09:39.118)
Yeah, just jog around the bases real quick. Maybe he'll start hitting some home runs, damn it. So I'm making one so he do everything by himself.
Alix (01:09:58.052)
James Harden of baseball.
Drew (01:09:59.003)
So I guess that too as well.
Alix (01:10:01.624)
Well, and be the place.
Drew (01:10:04.367)
Maybe Jobeon B had his moments. He just he was like more Anthony Richards saying you need to take his breaks. You know, he gets tired.
Alix (01:10:09.498)
Fair, Cool. Anything else you wanted to get into for a get out of here?
Drew (01:10:15.105)
no, that's, that's pretty much everything. main thing being that, you know, Anthony Richardson, I, I thought that he could be good this season. I was wrong. He is, he is, yeah, I guess he is actually terrible at football. not even like not good. He is actually just bad. same thing with, yeah, you can't.
Alix (01:10:23.501)
Just kidding.
is your fault.
Alix (01:10:36.876)
is young.
Drew (01:10:42.329)
You can't always coach that out of folks like they people got lucky with. OK, people got lucky with Josh Allen. That's a once in a generation kind of thing. And last time I checked, generations don't usually last just a few years. Those last lifetimes. So I don't think that. OK, I don't think that we're going to see another version of Josh Allen to where the quarterback play is just that bad and the quarterback is just that inaccurate to where you're to be able to turn them around and protect them from themselves.
Alix (01:10:42.522)
That came.
Alix (01:10:48.633)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, maybe.
Alix (01:10:56.282)
debatable.
Alix (01:11:10.874)
Daniel Jones.
Drew (01:11:13.837)
Yeah, he's real good.
Alix (01:11:15.354)
Hey, when Malik and him are both healthy, he looks like a decent quarterback.
Drew (01:11:18.853)
they were still losing games.
Alix (01:11:22.382)
I didn't say winning games, I said decent quarterback. Hey, Trevor Lawrence out here, we got him making like fucking $300 million. I know he's not good. He's just, he's terrible. And this man out here is Robin Jacksonville.
Drew (01:11:24.547)
Why? Okay, decent quarterback, you win games. Jervin Lawrence isn't good. For no reason.
Drew (01:11:36.304)
Basically, you put on a ski mask and you have a gun going to the bank every time that man casts his checks, essentially. Him and Daniel Jones. And Deshaun Watson, what I mean. With him, that's a heist, bro. That's not even just robbery. That's heist, bro. Legit. That's crazy.
Alix (01:11:47.746)
And to shine white.
Alix (01:11:55.002)
Going down to the history books, god damn it.
Drew (01:12:01.297)
Anyways, yeah, no, that's that's pretty much everything that I got today. I'll probably end up putting in a couple more bets once I update the model, see what the model likes. But yeah, right now, these games are looking kind of nasty. I don't. One that that's kind of interesting is the fact that the Saints are laying seven at the Panthers. They should not be laying seven.
Alix (01:12:17.422)
Gross.
Drew (01:12:30.297)
If Derek Carr is back, maybe. But if it's Spencer Rattler, we saw where Spencer Rattler was on that graph that I showed right next to Anthony Richardson. So if it's him or if it's Taysom Hill, like I do, there's no reason that they should be laying seven in any game. But other than that, that's all I got as well. Go Dodgers and we'll see you guys when we do the.
NBA preview.
Alix (01:13:01.114)
Facts, I say it, this has the Call Shot podcast with host, Alex Hanson-Drew Moore. Drew (01:13:14.478)
